Moonstone Project - 'TIME TO TAKE A STAND'

Matt Filippini had a dream…

That dream is now a reality…

That reality is the MOONSTONE PROJECT.

With the help of some very famous and incredibly talented friends, Italian guitarist Matt Filippini has made his hard rocking dream a reality with the release of TIME TO TAKE A STAND.

The list of these friends reads like a Who’s Who of hard rock’s last thirty years and is enough to get any true rock fan’s blood pressure rising…

Ian Paice (Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Gary Moore, Paul McCartney)
Steve Walsh (Kansas)
Glenn Hughes (Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, HTP..)
Graham Bonnet (Rainbow, Impellitteri, Alcatrazz, MSG)
James Christian (House Of Lords)
Tony Franklin (The Firm, Whitesnake, Blue Murder & many others)
Kelly Keeling (Michael Schenker, Dokken, Alice Cooper)
Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart)
Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot)
Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult)
Howie Simon (Talisman, Jeff Scott Soto, …)

Got your attention now? Thought so…..
The album ‘Time To Take A Stand’ is weighed down to the point of almost buckling under with legends…but before you get to thinking this is just another case of somebody filling his album with names to get attention, consider this…

Matt has performed with Ian Paice in his European club band for a while and when he played Ian the songs he’d written, the Deep Purple man commented that he very much liked what he was hearing and would love to play on it.

Next on board was Glenn Hughes, who contributes fantastic vocal performances to two tracks on ‘Time To Take A Stand’. What makes this so exciting is that this is the first time that Paice & Hughes have appeared together on anything since Deep Purple’s ‘Come Taste The Band’ sessions over thirty years ago. The significance of this cannot be lost on any fan of 70’s hard rock.

Says Matt of this fantastic development:

“I had this one particular song in mind for Glenn Hughes called 'Rose in Hell'. It seemed to me to represent everything this incredible vocalist is - and more! Ian Paice had already laid the drum track. When Glenn agreed, the importance of this collaboration suddenly dawned on me.

"As a long time Deep Purple fan, it was fantastic to hear these two legendary artists on the same track."

Matt says of what followed:

“…The album process had an organic feel to it.”

The rest, as they say….

…and all this before you factor in the remaining names! If this hasn’t set your pulse racing….well, why have you bothered reading this far?

As well as the names already mentioned, the album is populated by a very talented bunch of musicians – the core band, if you will – who are the glue that holds ‘Time To Take A Stand’ together. Today, we name the guilty parties….

Matt Filippini - lead guitar
Chris Catena – vocals
Alex del Vecchio – vocals & keys
Nik Mazzucconi – bass
Maury Corriga - bass
Alex Mori - drums
Gianluca Tagliavini - keyboards
Max Numa - guitar/ backing vocals

Now, here’s the really exciting bit. Unlike any number of all-star collaborations of the last few years, Moonstone Project is actually a living, breathing entity. You are actually gonna have the opportunity to see this act live, as many of the main protagonists have agreed to play as many shows as their already ludicrously packed diaries will allow. By the time ‘Time To Take A Stand’ is released worldwide in the last week of March 2006 via Majestic Rock Records, a limited number of shows will have been announced… and you really owe it to yourself to be there!

Remember, when somewhere on the planet Ian Paice & Glenn Hughes walk out on stage together, it will be for the first time since Deep Purple’s ‘Come Tate The Band’ tour ended at the Liverpool Empire on March 15th 1976.

You need to be there…
